NCAA Football 10 – Season Showdown

NCAA Football 10 - Season Showdown

EA Sports Blog today released more information on NCAA Football 10. The discussion of the posting covers Season Showdown. This all about representing your school and proving they are the best.

“Schedule Format and Phases

Since there is a little over a month between NCAA Football 10 hitting the shelves and the start of the college football season we will treat that time as the Season Showdown pre-season. During this time you will be able to earn credits for your school by playing any game vs. the CPU or vs. an online opponent. We will track the number of credits each person has earned individually as well as how many credits each school has earned. Your goal is to try and get your school at the top of the leaderboard by August 31st, which is the start of our regular season. In addition to playing the game, you will also be able to earn credits by logging into seasonshowdown.easports.com and playing the NCAA Trivia Challenge. The credits you earn for showing off your college football knowledge will be added to your school’s total as well as your own personal credit count. Since the trivia game is completely handled on the web, you don’t even need to own the game to play trivia and help your school.

The reason you want to get your school at the top of the leaderboard is so you can make your school’s path to the championship as easy as possible. Since Season Showdown replicates the real world season, we will have our own weekly polls based on the outcome of the Season Showdown games. The initial poll rankings for week 1 of the regular season will be where each school finished on the leaderboard at the end of the pre-season.

Once the regular season begins, each matchup will last the entire week, and your school’s opponent will be the same as their real world opponent. So in week one Bama fans will be squaring off with Virginia Tech fans and Cal fans won’t have to wait all week for their chance to get some revenge over Maryland. Every week of the season you will have a new opponent, and a new poll will be released every Monday letting you know where your school stands in the overall competition. Once we hit the first week in December its conference championship time. This is the first time we will part ways from the real life season. The schools that will be battling it out for their conference titles are the schools that win their divisions in the Season Showdown regular season. So while the real world SEC championship game might be UF vs. LSU, if Ole Miss fans and Kentucky fans fight hard enough, they will be playing for the SEC title in Season Showdown. And if you didn’t finish #1 or #2 in the final rankings of the season don’t sweat it, cause the top 32 schools will be placed into a single elimination tournament to crown the Season Showdown champion. Each round of the tournament will last one week, just like the match-ups during the regular season, and the Season Showdown Championship week will be played out the same week as the real world National Championship game.”

Madden NFL 10 – Pass Blocking

Madden NFL 10

Today more information has come to light for Madden NFL 10 and this time with pass blocking.

“Madden’s blocking system has typically always been based around quick looping animations to enhance user control. A quick looping/hand-fighting animation plays quickly (sometimes less than a second), and during that time the game checks to see if a special move should be tried, or if either player should move forward or backward, or if either player should disengage for any reason, or possibly if the animation should just continue to loop. The bonus of a system like this is that it can be typically very responsive. If you hit a button, it responds rather quickly and a new animation can start. If a ball carrier bounces his run outside after a block animation has started, the defender can break off of his blocker quickly and not get stuck in an animation for too long.”

MaddenFans.com – Top 25 NCAA Football Pre-Season Poll

NCAA Football

That time of the year for Preseason Polls. Here is our guess for the season. Going to make this short and sweet.

1. Florida – Most returning players on offense and defense and back to back talk is in the air.
2. Texas – Don’t expect Texas to lay down this year. McCoy is back as well the Heisman talk.
3. USC – Look out for an explosive offense as well as a dominating defense.
4. Oklahoma – Bradford is back and wants another chance at a National Championship
5. Ohio State – Time to let Terrelle Pryor loose, the defense should do ok as well.
6. Virginia Tech – Be on the lookout for them in the ACC.
7. Alabama – Maybe too high for a team that lost to Utah, maybe not
8. LSU – Time for Jordan Jefferson to step up.
9. Ole Miss – Jevan Snead a possible No. 1 in 2010?
10. Penn State – Lost 13 starters including the entire secondary. Defense could be the key.
11. Oklahoma State – Great offensive trio but the defense needs work.
12. Georgia Tech – Good first year under new coach, Heisman talk for Jonathan Dwyer.
13. California – Jahvid Best may be actually that at running back coming in to 2009.
14. Boise State – Best winning percentage since 99, undefeated season within reach.
15. Oregon – Look to the running game.
16. Georgia – Lost Stafford and Moreno but plenty of talent left.
17. Utah – Another big year, passing game will need help.
18. Kansas – Todd Reesing returns, should be a good year on offense.
19. Florida State – Offensive line will be the strength here.
20. TCU – Can they make it to a BCS bowl this year?
21. BYU – Defense on the rise, schedule point at another 10 win season.
22. Notre Dame – With changes made and the talent this should translate to the field.
23. Iowa – All around a team worth looking out for.
24. Nebraska – After some close calls last year this might be the year to make a run.
25. Houston – Heisman talk with QB Case Keenum

MaddenFans.com – Madden NFL 10 Worst 5 Teams

Madden NFL 10

This article I am going to touch base on what we think are the worst 5 teams in Madden NFL 10 this year. Yes, your team might be on our list.

Detroit Lions
Detroit Lions

There isn’t enough draft picks to fill the needs for this team. I disagree with Stafford as there draft pick when they could have traded down and filled the gaps at other positions for the same combined amount of money. This will be the worst team in Madden NFL 10 but not by much.

Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns

What the hell happen to the Browns? From 10-6 in 2007 to the basement in 2008. Jamal Lewis isn’t as young as he use to be and with the new rating system I don’t expect him or Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson to be rated very high in the game. It would be a good challenge but only if you know the team well. The defense was under 20 sacks last year, basically was not worth the field they stepped on.

Oakland Raiders
Oakland Raiders

Do I really need to say anything to back this up? Look at the draft, look at the owner. You want to end your gaming career you play with the Raiders or the Lions. The best player the Raiders have plays defense. Russell and McFadden should make a deadly combination out of the backfield if they weren’t in Oakland but the rest of team has nothing to be desired. Die hard Raiders fans will play with them not caring if they win or lose.

Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals

Despite Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson this team can go either way. I think they are falling and will continue to fall. Its really too bad that such a waste of talent has to be stuck with the Bengals. Cedric Benson is the main running back and shouldn’t be better than a 79 in Madden NFL 10. I will say they acquired some talent during free agency and the draft but I would have kept Housh around for all that money.

Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs

Big news here was Matt Cassell signing during the off season. This may cause some people to use the Chiefs but as the year goes on that should drop off. I am not a true believer quite yet and will be the first to say he was a one year wonder. If I am wrong so be it, but KC is not New England baby. Bowe can do his thing if you can get the ball to him and the draft looked to help the defense, but they won’t pull a Miami.

Other teams to consider: Seattle (tchonz sorry), St. Louis, NY Jets
