3-4 Under MLB Blitz

By Paul "Kobra" Gleason

<blockquote>"There are times during the Madden season where things come up that require immediate attention. In my opinion this is one of those times. I have heard through the online skill competition sites and the tournament scene that there is an extremely effective way that people are starting to use to run the FL Screen. Instead of holding a solution for this for the skill sites and tournament scene, I think delivering it to you will be beneficial, and also start a topic of discussion for us to expound on."</blockquote>

The 3-4 Stack SS Snake 3 Stay provides not only solid pressure on the QB, but also has solid pass coverage. Notice there are 3 defenders playing 3 deep coverage, 2 defenders playing buzz zones, and 1 defender in a hook zone.

Kobra's Corner: 3-4 Under Pinch

By Paul "Kobra" Gleason

January 6, 2009

In this week's edition of Kobra's Corner, I want to take a look at a 3-4 man blitz scheme out of the 3-4 Under. The name of the blitz is the 3-4 Under Pinch. Most of you already know man coverage is not as strong as years past. However, there are times when you can call it to keep your opponent off balanced.

The 46 Normal defensive formation provides one of the most balanced looks in the game when attempting to stop both the run and the pass. In this tip, SportsGamer's going to reveal and easy way to create consistent B-gap pressure using any play from this formation. What we like about this blitz is that you can use any two linebackers to create the pressure with. The play that we'll be using in the first example that we show is the 46 Normal LB Contain. When we're done with the entire setup process this play will have become a five man pass rush that is ready to bring the heat on your opponent. Check it out below!

The blitzing technique that we'll be revealing in the following tip can be executed from a number of different formations in Madden 09. However, in this example we'll be showcasing this technique from the 46 Bear and the Nickel Normal formations only. The key to bringing as much pressure as possible on your opponent when setting up this blitz is to have your fastest linemen in at the starting defensive tackle position. The setup for this play will work when your opponent is in shotgun, but it is more effective when playing someone who likes to remain under center. Follow along with the setup below to find out how you can utilize the quickest pressure possible in the game.

Bringing pressure in Madden 09 is essential in order to get stops on defense. In this tip, SportsGamer's going to demonstrate an easy way to effectively bring heat from any play in the 3-4 defensive formation. The ability to be able to blitz from any play within the 3-4 defensive formation will provide you with a great deal of flexibility when determining your playcalling. We like to mix in the 3-4 defense a few times a game because it provides us with 7 big defenders near the line of scrimmage in order to help stop the run, while still being able to apply some pressure. Take a look at the following images below as we take you through the entire breakdown step by step!
