April 23, 2009

Concept:

The concept behind triple slants is to send more into the middle of the field than what the defender can handle. This concept is very effective against zone coverage as one of three receivers will be open. We add a vertical stretch element to this concept by sending the two receivers deep.

Progression Reads:

 1. WR3 (Y) - Streak
 2. WR5 (A) - Slant
 3. WR4 (LB) - Slant
 4. WR1 (B) - Slant
 5. WR2 (X) - Fade

I have had few ways to enhance screen plays sent into me over the last few weeks. This week I decided to go ahead and show them in Kobra's Corner. This HB Screen is out of the Gun and I really like the results I have had using it online. A special thanks to Dual Blitz for sending it in to me.

Another Madden 2009 Offense for you Madden fans. We help everyone in the Madden Community and consider ourselves better then no one that plays. If we can find the information we will bring to you.

By Paul "Kobra" Gleason

Many of you may already know this tip, but for those that don't, it may make the difference between taking a sack and having a big pass play down the field. Back in Madden 04, EA introduced the ability to hot route a receiver after the ball was snapped. For those that used Michael Vick, you know how effective it was when utilized right. In Madden 09, the feature is still in the game. We are going to show an example of how the right stick hot route post snap could be used during a real game situation.

In this week's edition of Kobra's Corner, I want to take a look at disguising the Gun Doubles FL Screen. It's pretty simple, but an effective way to keep your opponent from knowing when the FL Screen is coming.

Don't for get to check out this week's video here on the Madden NFL 09 landing page.

A few weeks ago, I showed how the HB Angle route can be effective against most zone coverages. This week, I want to expand on this route by showing a defensive scheme that does a good job at countering it. After I show the defensive scheme, I will show what adjustments need to be made to beat it when running the HB Angle route.

In this week's Kobra's Corner, I want to start a two part write up that showcases the HB Angle Route. For those that aren't familiar with this route, this is good time to learn the route and start using it.

Kobra's Corner: Out n Ups

In the Madden 08 Filmroom, I showed how I like to run the Split Backs 3WR Out N Ups to beat zone coverage. In Madden 09, it's still just as effective. Don't forget to check out this week's video here!

Kobra's Corner: Gun Bunch Wk Verticals

By Paul "Kobra" Gleason

January 13, 2009

In this week's Kobra's Corner, I want to take a look at a passing concept that I like to run against Cover 3 and Cover 4 coverage that allows me to get the ball out of the quarterback's hands and into a receiver's hands quickly.

The Gun Wing Trips Stick is a play that has plenty of solid options across the field. The main read on this play is the tight end's in and out route immediately after the snap. However, there are as many as three of four other reads that are open fairly consistently. In this tip, SportsGamer's going to breakdown the way that we like to use the Stick play to help you make sure that every time you use it you're able to net positive yardage. Take a look at this breakdown in its entirety below.

The "Rocket Catch" has been used by many of the nation's top Madden players over the past few years. Rocket-catching can be defined as manually taking over control of a receiver, squaring him up on the football, and then jumping up to make the catch just before the ball arrives. Gamers refer to this type of reception as a "Rocket Catch" because the player shoots straight up in the air just as a rocket does when it takes off. What we're going to do in this tip is breakdown the Gun 4 WR PA Deep Outs play from the Run N' Gun playbook because this is one of the most difficult plays in the game to stop when a user is Rocket-catching. Continue reading below as SportsGamer takes you through another exclusive breakdown.
